Lawrence S. Jacobs, Esquire

Lawrence (Larry) Jacobs has developed a practice in helping same-sex couples protect their assets and loved ones through partnership planning. He also has more than 30 years’ experience representing local businesses in a wide range of matters, including business transactions, contracts and employment law. Larry Jacobs has also been a vocal advocate for civil rights issues. In 1995, he was appointed to the Human Relations Commission by Montgomery County Executive Douglas Duncan. He was elected as Chair of the Commission in 2000.

Larry Jacobs has been a highly visible spokesman for the civil rights of the GLBT community. Passionately interested in the well-being of students, he co-founded the Safe Schools Coalition of Montgomery County in 1995. He has also served as Chair of the Board of Education’s Family Life Advisory Committee and as a co-chair of the Safe Schools Action Group. He is currently a member of the Board of Equality Maryland, the State’s leading group working to protect the rights of GLBT Marylanders, and was its President from 2003-2006.

Larry Jacobs has also been the recipient of numerous awards for his legal and civic work, including the Gaylaw Distinguished Community Service Award. He was named the PEN Business Leader of the Year in 2006.

Larry is also a licensed real estate broker in Maryland. He has lived in many different areas of Montgomery County during the last 35 years; he and his partner currently reside in Rockville.
